Hello Back Row Readers,
One perk of running a publication on Substack is its community features, including the chat room. Today, as fashion month officially begins with New York Fashion Week, I’m opening the chat for paying subscribers to start threads. Using the chat room is a really nice experience on the Substack app, so if you don’t have that I recommend downloading it.
The idea here is to allow you all to talk to each other and to me (I’ll chime in whenever I can) about fashion and culture news, and to add even more value for paying subscribers. Maybe there’s a new cover that’s caught your attention or a collection that you’re dying to discuss (Proenza, anyone?) or a collab that’s making your mind explode. Comment sections on Instagram and other corners of the internet frequently devolve into meanness, fighting, and off-topic discussion. So far, that’s not been an issue in the Back Row comment section, which has, wonderfully, had quite the opposite vibe! Many of you have shared smart, thoughtful, and witty takes on the subjects I’ve covered, which has been a joy to see. The Back Row chat will be moderated for civility and on-topic commentary, but otherwise, feel free to post liberally! I look forward to joining your discussions and will still start threads myself here and there.
