  • Katie Holmes was pap’d carrying one of those $3,600 Alo Yoga bags that creators have been relentlessly dragging. It was likely a paid endorsement. Holmes, I’m told, can earn tens of thousands for these photo ops. It may pay off, though — Glamour went with the headline, “Only Katie Holmes Could Convince Me This $3,600 Alo Handbag Is Worth the Investment.”

  • Perhaps you’ve heard that New York Fashion Week has started! Here’s a headline about it from the New York Post:

  • And here’s another headline about “chicken-finger-inspired” couture from WWD:

  • Back Row will have more on the shows next week, but Diotima’s Rachel Scott had a particularly strong debut for Proenza Schouler.

  • Partner offer: Get 15 percent off American Eagle with the code SHOPMY15. I bought their wide leg jeans on a lark around a year ago, and wear them all the time since they look good and feel like sweats. (A sweatpants jean that’s not a sweatpants jean!) Despite being an older millennial, I like both the low-rise and high-waist styles. They pair well with an off-the-shoulder sweater. (Note that the discount code excludes third-party products, clearance, gift cards, and Aerie products.)

Gwyneth Paltrow Takes Another Stab at a Luxury Line

On Sunday, September 14, at the “concept store” Quarters in Tribeca, Gwyneth Paltrow will show “GWYN” as part of New York Fashion Week. (I was not invited but someone who was shared the email with me.)

The invitation to the show landed in editor inboxes via fashion PR firm Karla Otto, on behalf of both Goop and Gwyneth. It describes the line as “a luxury collection designed for powerful, elegant, dynamic women.”

Goop already has an expensive clothing line: G. Label, described thusly on the Goop website:

If G. Label is so understated it can’t even be described with capital letters, what might GWYN be? And why would Gwyneth want to do another brand when Goop recently cut its staff and offerings?
